Elections in India
Elections have been held in the world since a long time. Refer the beautiful website http://www.democracyweb.org/elections/history.php to understand a lot of details about First elections.
First General election in Independent India was held in 1951. Since then, 14 General elections have been held.
We are gearing up for our next General Elections in 2014. It is an important event in our country, which decide not only the quality of our lives, but also the quality of life our next generation is going to get.
There have been developments in India, as well as scams exposed. There is a complaint going rounds that natural resources are used to the advantage of a few, especially who hold power in political, administrative or business circles.
Please share your views on what has been missed out so far in public governance, what is deteriorating which needs immediate attention and what our India should look like, how to get there. Especially those who have travelled to many countries would have observed the good and bad in those countries and would be able to compare with India.
Ultimately, money is just one aspect, which is nothing but paper or metal if some equations change in global economy. Underneath that, there are visible things such as out of 10 people, how many could get enough to eat, dress adequately, get relief from various pains through medical attention, able to walk shoulder to shoulder with others through education.
It would be good to have a website to look through all the constituencies so far, who governed them since 1951, opinion of the people of each constituency on needs and fulfilments. Governance has the key role to play for the good or negligent state of various life parameters in these constituencies.
